Welcome to SLDC

Supporting individuals with dementia, and their families, friends, and caregivers, across Lutterworth and surrounding villages.

The South Leicestershire Dementia Community (SLDC) is a charity dedicated to providing support, companionship, and meaningful activities for individuals living with dementia, as well as their friends, family, and caregivers. Our mission is to create a caring, inclusive environment where people affected by dementia can continue to enjoy life, build connections, and access professional guidance along their journey.

Become a member

While South Leicestershire Dementia Community (SLDC) is a registered charity, we ask that people using our services become a members. This membership helps contribute towards the costs of running our activities and maintaining the timetable of events designed to support the dementia community in our area.

We understand that living with dementia can bring additional financial pressures. No one should be prevented from accessing our services due to cost. If you are unable to afford the family membership, please get in touch with us—we are happy to discuss options so that everyone can participate and benefit from SLDC’s support.

Our Partnership with ADRE

SLDC works closely with ADRE Lutterworth, a renowned leader in dementia research and brain health initiatives, including their pioneering Brain Gym programme. While ADRE continues to advance dementia research internationally, SLDC focuses on ensuring the long-term provision of local, community-based support for those affected by dementia in this area.

How SLDC began

South Leicestershire Dementia Community (SLDC) is a new, community-based charity, created to continue and expand vital support services for people affected by dementia in our area. Since 2019, our partner ADRE has run a wide range of activities that are highly valued by people living with dementia and their loved ones, and which have established a strong and trusted reputation locally.

As ADRE grows and refocuses on its research work across the United Kingdom and Europe, SLDC has been launched to continue these support services at a local level—ensuring that services such as Share and Care and carers’ support remain accessible, relevant, and deeply embedded in the community.
